This is a follow-up experiment investigating the cognitive salience of 6 semantic relation types (category, part, quality, function, behaviour, location) for a set of 50 concrete concepts from 10 concept classes (mammals, bird, fruit, vegetables, body parts, clothing, implement, vehicle, furniture, building). Concepts and semantically related words were based on those produced in a preceding feature production experiment. The aim was to find out if the concept-class-specific relation types found in the production experiment could be confirmed in the perception experiment. Reaction times and error responses for presented word stimuli pairs were analysed using a mixed effects model and by visualising RT and error differences for each combination of concept class and relation type. Results for perception were not perfectly conform with those of production, but confirmed that cognitively salient semantic relation types are concept-class-specific.
