As a first step of this study we present the novel Maria Chapdelaine by Louis Hémon. Then we give some information on the Italian, Spanish, German and Romanian translations and translators we have chosen for this study. Finally, we comment on several examples of these translations seek to understand what are strategies used to translate some language regionalisms found in the novel. Are there any similarities in the methodological strategies used to translate the many regionalisms of Maria Chapdelaine? We conclude this study with some pedagogical reflections.
