The construction of the sort of artificial landscape so prevalent in the modern period seems to be doomed to end or, at least, it seems that their structure is undergoing a radical alteration. Technological, economic and cultural events have already changed or even removed whatever man slowly and with great effort built. The contemporary quest for environmental sustainability gives new value to the renovation of traditional landscapes altered by human activity, including the ones located in the Alps. Currently various efforts present different valid solutions for making optimum use of these altered landscapes. Further, larger projects need to be undertaken. The Alpine environment has been studied from this point of view, specifically with a research project in the Fiemme Valley, in particular the area of Monte Cornon. This area is of an exemplary type, still displaying its original architecture/landscape relationship, despite having undergone many changes. Evidence of construction systems, modifications and historical sequence are still clear, as the structure was only slightly affected by changes wrought by industrialisation. Our study focused on construction of the buildings for seasonal production, the baite, tabià and malga, pointing out their relationship of dependence on their environment. The research-knowledge is an essential requirement for stimulating the landscape construction and to make a sustanaible architecture.
