Binaların Yenilenmesinde Ahşap Kullanımı: Trentino; Bölgesinde Bulunan Kırsal Binaların Islahına İlişkin Vaka Çalışması = Use the Wood in Buildings Refurbishment: Case Study, the Reclamation of Rural Buildings in Trentino Region

The reuse and the refurbishment of existing buildings represent, for the future, one of the most important sustainable approaches in the construction industry, which is considered one of the main responsible for the environmental crisis affecting our planet. The use of wood, a natural and renewable material, is a correct answer to this problem. The sawed wood helps to reduce the greenhouse effect because it incorporates forever 1,01 ton of CO2 in 1 m3 of wood. The culture of using wood is not yet part of the Italian housing recovering process. The Laboratory of Building Design at the University of Trento has developed, from the middle of 1994 until today, several Ahşap yapilarda koruma ve onarim sempozyumu 7 = Symposium on restoration and conservation of traditional timber structures 7 exemplary case study to promote wood culture. They consist in the reclamation of traditional old barn converted into homes or accommodating buildings. The adopted constructive solution introduced the use of wood in order to build an envelope inside the existing building. This solution was theorized in 2006 by Prof. Antonio Frattari and concerns the concept of “Envelop Within an Envelope”. To increase the environmental sustainability, to improve and complete the theory, particular attention has been paid since 2008 to taking advantage of free energy contributions from the surrounding of the buildings and to increasing the energy characterization of the envelope in order to achieve a “Near Zero Energy Building” (NZEB) for a sustainable characterization of the building.
