This paper retraces the fortune of the iological poems of Nicander of Colophon (2nd century BCE), entitled 'Theriaka' and 'Alexipharmaka', in Latin literature of the Classical and Late Antique periods. The authors and texts examined include Vergil, Propertius, Ovid, the pseudo-Vergilian 'Culex', Tertullian, and Quintus Serenus.
