All public and private architecture should be designed to best meet the needs of the largest categories of users, thus constituting an example of sustainable architecture with respect to functional parameters. The philosophy of sustainable architecture in spatial and functional terms is, therefore, based on the assumption that designing means giving shape to a more liveable world, with a design that cares people’s needs and the quality of life. The results achieved so far have not always produced completely usable and easily transformable indoor and outdoor spaces and environments complying the ever-changing needs. This paper therefore will address the issue of flexibility of construction according to the seven principles of Universal Design for All, therefore with respect to equity – equitable use, flexibility – flexibility in use, simplicity – simple and intuitive use, perceptibility, tolerance for error, low physical effort and sufficient dimensions and spaces.

Abstract
All public and private architecture should be designed to best meet the needs of the largest categories of users, thus constituting an example of sustainable architecture with respect to functional parameters. The philosophy of sustainable architecture in spatial and functional terms is, therefore, based on the assumption that designing means giving shape to a more liveable world, with a design that cares people’s needs and the quality of life. The results achieved so far have not always produced completely usable and easily transformable indoor and outdoor spaces and environments complying the ever-changing needs. This paper therefore will address the issue of flexibility of construction according to the seven principles of Universal Design for All, therefore with respect to equity – equitable use, flexibility – flexibility in use, simplicity – simple and intuitive use, perceptibility, tolerance for error, low physical effort and sufficient dimensions and spaces.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
