The main goal of this paper is to investigate the business models of successful websites. To this end, an original multidimensional framework was defined and applied to a large number of websites. The framework – named BM*Web - combines issues already present in existing schema describing business models, with innovative aspects that have never been taken into account or which are now viewed in a new light. Albeit preliminary, results of the study allow the identification of features that characterize the most successful business models for the Web and that could be used to define guidelines for a tourism destination management organization.
