The computationally-efficient design of complex electromagnetic (EM) devices is dealt with in this work. Within this context, the System-by-Design (SbD) is an effective paradigm for achieving high-performance architectures with a remarkable time saving with respect to standard methodologies. To prove the generality, the effectiveness, and the potentialities of such a design framework, the synthesis of complex reflectarray antennas with arbitrarily-shaped unit cells (UCs) is presented and solved by means of a customized implementation of dedicated SbD functional blocks. An illustrative numerical example is shown to assess the capabilities of the proposed design methodology.

Abstract
The computationally-efficient design of complex electromagnetic (EM) devices is dealt with in this work. Within this context, the System-by-Design (SbD) is an effective paradigm for achieving high-performance architectures with a remarkable time saving with respect to standard methodologies. To prove the generality, the effectiveness, and the potentialities of such a design framework, the synthesis of complex reflectarray antennas with arbitrarily-shaped unit cells (UCs) is presented and solved by means of a customized implementation of dedicated SbD functional blocks. An illustrative numerical example is shown to assess the capabilities of the proposed design methodology.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
