Abstract

New trends for smart electromagnetic (EM) environments are discussed in this work. More in detail, an innovative design methodology is presented to enhance the radiation features of a phased antenna array thanks to an opportunistic exploitation of the surrounding complex scattering scenario in which it operates. An illustrative numerical example is provided as a preliminary proof-of-concept to assess the effectiveness as well as the potentialities of the proposed innovative synthesis technique.
