This work presents a study on the application of wideband transmit beamforming by four-dimensional (4D) linear antenna arrays. Other than existing technologies of 4D antenna arrays that only focus on narrow band applications, the transmission of wideband signal is firstly considered. Wideband linear frequency modulation (LFM) pulse is used as the input of 4D antenna arrays and the waveforms after the time modulation are analyzed. Wideband beam patterns, which represent the relationship among radiation power, emission angle and frequency, are calculated. Then, numerical results using different time sequences are given to confirm that 4D antenna arrays can be applied to wideband signal transmission.
