This CD contains two works of the composer from Trento Francesco Antonio Berera (b. 1737-d. 1813), for male or mixer choir and wind instrument. They were written in the period as maestro di cappella in the Cathedral of Trento, between 1791 and 1813: Vespro da prodursi in due maniere dedicated to S. Rocco and Messa n. 19 (1809). Specifics studies allowed to output the relationships between Cappella musicale and other new musical institutions of this period: Band (1801), and Accademia Filarmonica (1795), with particular focus on their collective. These two manuscripts had been recently transcribed in modern scores and recorded. The transcription and the performance allow to listen not only to what on the manuscript is written, but also to what could be abstract from other evidences, for example the percussion section: Kettledrums are not on score but they were certainly used by musicians of the Cappella. The project allowed to bring back “at home” this music, after two centuries from their composition: in the Cathedral of Trento.
