In this paper we will try to focus on the border that effectively divided, until 1914, Trentino from the Kingdom of Italy and especially its south-eastern route. Even before becoming a battleground this was an armed border, guarded, practiced. A border of continuous and strenuous negotiations between different organs of power and different territorial entities, which, as we shall see, from the mid-700 until 1914 tried to develop a set of agreements and pacts designed to make it linear. Attempts at times frustrated by centrifugal forces, by border incidents associated with the imperviousness of border territories, often located more than 2,000 meters above sea level. Strips of sacred ground for nationalistic fervor, fueled by the press and by the patriotic rhetoric, not always syncronized with the needs of diplomacy and politics. These was so important territorial portions from a symbolic point of view that neither after the Great War the fights about the border finished.

Abstract
These was so important territorial portions from a symbolic point of view that neither after the Great War the fights about the border finished.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
