The work described in this paper aims at the definition of a general framework for the formal specification of agents’ beliefs in a multiagent environment. The basic idea is to model both agents’ beliefs and the view that each agent has of other agents’ beliefs as logical theories. The logical theories and the relations among them characterize a belief system. Belief systems are naturally presented using Multi context systems. We show how some of the modal approaches to the formalization of (non) omniscient belief can be captured within our framework.

Abstract

The work described in this paper aims at the definition of a general framework for the formal specification of agents’ beliefs in a multiagent environment. The basic idea is to model both agents’ beliefs and the view that each agent has of other agents’ beliefs as logical theories. The logical theories and the relations among them characterize a belief system. Belief systems are naturally presented using Multi context systems. We show how some of the modal approaches to the formalization of (non) omniscient belief can be captured within our framework.
