We deal with the problem of having students taking meaningful notes while assisting at lectures. From the relevant literature, it emerges that the note taking activity has a relevant cognitive value, but the common practice of making handouts available discourages note taking. On the other hand, notes taken by students risk to be incomplete, and it is difficult for them to realize that in absence of the ones provided by the “oracle”. We face this problem, designing a system that allows students to capture whatever is being presented by the teacher on the projected screen in class, and use that a as a basis for their annotation. The student has to actively capture (in a simple way) the images that are useful for her/him. The system also allows doing such operation in an asynchronous way, by looking at recorded video lectures.
