This essay aims to outline some of the main characteristics of the reception and creative imitation of Troubadour lyric in modern and contemporary poetry, highlighting the most relevant aspects of the revivalist trends, especially those concerning the rediscovery, reelaboration, and reinvention of the Provençal tradition of courtly love. The influence exerted by the Troubadours on European literary culture from the 13th century onwards, particularly evident during the Romantic period, appears to develop along two often intersecting axes: the scholarly interest in the Middle Ages, which produces critical editions and critical essays, and the sentimental fascination for the past, which carries out experimental research, in terms of thematic, metrical, and lexical innovation of medieval texts.

Abstract
This essay aims to outline some of the main characteristics of the reception and creative imitation of Troubadour lyric in modern and contemporary poetry, highlighting the most relevant aspects of the revivalist trends, especially those concerning the rediscovery, reelaboration, and reinvention of the Provençal tradition of courtly love. The influence exerted by the Troubadours on European literary culture from the 13th century onwards, particularly evident during the Romantic period, appears to develop along two often intersecting axes: the scholarly interest in the Middle Ages, which produces critical editions and critical essays, and the sentimental fascination for the past, which carries out experimental research, in terms of thematic, metrical, and lexical innovation of medieval texts.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
