Abstract

The metallic foams produced by foaming in a sponge shape, show very interesting engineering properties in particular connected with the very low density. 1 In addition considering the structure with the presence of closed cells, these materials show acoustic and energy absorbance properties together with good behavior at high temperature due to their metallic nature. These metallic foams present higher mechanical properties in comparison with competitor materials as polymeric foam. In this work the potential of electrophoretic acrylic coating and a SiO2 - Na2O - K2O - LiO2 enamel coating was assessed as an effective solution to protect aluminum foams.
