In this paper, we propose and assess an mm-Wave communication system that is based on the use of constant envelope multicarrier modulation format, namely Constant-Envelope OFDM (CE-OFDM) : particularly, in order to establish a preliminary assessment of the affordable performance, we propose and design a Substrate Integrated Waveguide (SIW) slotted array with a squared cosecant pattern at 73 GHz; moreover, we consider only single-user very high data-rate transmissions and two scenarios, namely, the small cell downlink and the so called “information shower”. Simulation results, related to Line-Of-Sight (LOS) downlink transmission in 73 GHz channel, will consider link performance in terms of bit-error-rate in a LOS channel and prove that CE-OFDM, used with trellis-coded modulations, can offer interesting performance results in terms of robustness and coverage.

Abstract
In this paper, we propose and assess an mm-Wave communication system that is based on the use of constant envelope multicarrier modulation format, namely Constant-Envelope OFDM (CE-OFDM) : particularly, in order to establish a preliminary assessment of the affordable performance, we propose and design a Substrate Integrated Waveguide (SIW) slotted array with a squared cosecant pattern at 73 GHz; moreover, we consider only single-user very high data-rate transmissions and two scenarios, namely, the small cell downlink and the so called “information shower”. Simulation results, related to Line-Of-Sight (LOS) downlink transmission in 73 GHz channel, will consider link performance in terms of bit-error-rate in a LOS channel and prove that CE-OFDM, used with trellis-coded modulations, can offer interesting performance results in terms of robustness and coverage.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione
