The project "Zero Emission Universiade" aims to remodel the “XXVI 2013 Winter Universiade Trentino” into a sustainable event, limiting and offsetting its related greenhouse CO2 gas emissions. The environmental impact of the XXVI 2013 Winter Universiade Trentino can be quantified to a total of 17,300 tCO2 emitted in the early stages of preparation, operation and decommissioning of the event. A number of savings initiatives undertaken throughout the Province of Trento are offsetting these emissions with the aim of making possible a “Zero Emission” Universiade. This demonstrates the importance and effectiveness of human and technical factors in the proper management of energy resources.
