This volume brings together different perspectives and ways of understanding gendered scientific knowledge by international scholars in the fields of science and theory that challenge, question, and complement each other in their assessment of the scope and limitations of “gendered ways of knowing”. It reflects upon the concept gender as a category of analysis and classification, as well as on scientific attempts to erect boundaries between men and women, masculinity and femininity; it investigates postcolonial critiques of Western science and gender categories; it analyzes the organization of genderd approaches to work in science.
