The software that makes interactive whiteboards usable is usually proprietary, and its licence terms put restrictions on its usage. This fact is often not fully understood, but its legal implications severely limit what a teacher can do, up to losing access to the didactic resources that s/he might have developed. Moreover, low cost interactive whiteboards such as those based on the Nintendo Wii need software and installation support. Starting form a social community activity, we identified and developed a solution to both these problems.
