This work presents a novel method for the optimal synthesis of linear arrays, maximally robust with respect to calibration and mutual coupling errors. Exploiting the theory of the Circular Interval Arithmetics, analytic and reliable power pattern bounds are used within the optimization, in order to assure the robustness of the designed array with respect to calibration and mutual coupling errors. The synthesis is formulated as a convex problem, providing optimal solutions subject to arbitrary upper bound constraints on the power pattern side-lobes.

Abstract
