Africa has acquired increased importance in China’s quest for global influence. Here China is testing its new role as a global actor. This paper aims at examining China’s official discourse on sino-african cooperation, with particular attention to the analysis of the two “China’s Africa Policy Papers” released by the Chinese government on 2006 and 2015. It will discuss how China-Africa cooperation is understood by the Chinese government and how China represents itself and its relations with Africa in the XXI century.
