In this paper I look at the most recent theoretical trends in the field of organization theory as the product of a specific social community. This study is based on an original dataset including the composition of editorial boards of two of the main journals of the discipline in the time frame 2000-2008. We find that the scientific community, as represented by the boards of the journals, tends to reproduce itself over time by means of a process of doctoral lineage between members from different generations. Interestingly, boards seem to be striving to become more varied over time, with limited success.
